05/01/2019 - F-7114 gusset positioning and heat baffles - 5H

I installed the F-7114 gussets after priming.

The passenger side went in without issues and I torqued all AN3 bolts to 25 inch/lbs.

The pilot side was again misery. Eventhough I tried it during match drilling, I still couldn't get it installed properly after priming.

I followed the directions from Vans support and slightly enlarged the holes on the aft side of the F-7114.

Not dramatical and suggested by Vans. But It doesn't look very nice. As I mentioned in earlier articles. These heavy gussets should be matchdrilled and go in together when the web gear attach plates are installed to avoid this kind of hacks.
Now the bolts go in and I torqued the 5 AN3 bolts.

Next, I did another small remaining task. Bending the tabs on the heating openings in the center cabin cover.
You have to clamp a piece of angle and bend the tab outwards. The manual states you can do this by hand but this is not really trye. I had to tap with a small wood block to be able to open it up.

You need to clamp both sides before bending ! Ask me how I learned...

The material is extremely flimsy and cracks if you don't ... see next article...
