Cont right tank prep - 22/02/2012 - 3h

More work on the right fuel tank in preparation of rivetting

Countersunk all holes that connect the fuel tank baffle.

Then dimpled the #19 holes for the 8R8 screw with dimple die #8. Carefully deburred as per the plans to avoid cracking

Then countersunk the nutplate ear #40 holes  on the bottom of the z-brackets. I really don't like coutnersinking on such small surfaces

Then matchdrilled the fuel cap reinforcement ring. The fit is really nice again when the fuel cap is temporary inserted.

Countersunk the fuel cap reinforcement ring for the dimples from the skin.

Coming in from the workshop into the kitchen I stumbled upon this scene.
This is what makes a father feel proud, this is what makes me happy.

While I'm working on the fuel tanks, my 8 year old son is practicing his navigation skills to fly from Oostend to Koksijde in a delta plane.
He 's not far away from the Boeings now :)

Then finished of grinding down and deburring the stiffeners and matchdrilled them to the skin.

Deburred all the holes of the stiffeners and dimpled them using the tank dimple dies.
Then started whacking on the skin to form the dimples.

Another day closer to the 'black goeeee', another day closer to using 'Black Death'. I'll try to break out the sealant this saturday.
