As a very last step I wanted to reinstall and remeasure the distance between the gear leg fairings as the airplane is still of the ground.
Clecoed everything back on and asked Matthias to help me out with measuring the distance between the centerline of the airplane and the rear and front sides of the wheelpants.
To start, I measured the height from the middle points of the pants through the horizontal center line of the wheel pant.
The blue painters tape marks the reference on the rear side.
Looking from the front side, the center line is also on the blue tape.
Then moved to the pilot side and did the same check. Made sure the alumnium bars on the floot are 0.0° level front and back.
The rear side shows exactly the same height as the opposite side.
The front side seems to be a little lower looking at the tape. Not much, like 1/10 of an inch but it looks lower.
I'm not sure how to explain this. Either the center line on the side of the wheelpant is not accurate enough or it happened during drilling and came down very slightly.
Drawing that centerline was not easy even with a laser level so I'm not sure if there is a difference after all.
I'm not going to worry about this, the pants can slightly be tilted backwards if needed to correct this.

Then I measured the offset from the airplane centerline.
Pilot side, I measured 42" 7/8 to the center of the wheel pant.
it's hard to spot the exact length as off course the wheel pant is tilted inwards and the height of the measure tape on center mark and wheel pant need to be equal.
On the passenger side, made the same measurement from the centerline and I end up with just passed 42" 13/16 and before 14/16 (7/8).
This means I should be within 1/16" difference. Taking into account the difficulty of measuring again, it looks like I'm very very close.
The I measured on the front side of the wheel pant. Measuring here is even more difficult as finding the exact front spot on this 3D wheel pant is even more difficult than the rear which was narrow.
First measured on the passenger side. Don't look at the actual numbers, we took an offset point from zero in the middle to make measuring more accurate.
measurement here was somewhere close between 48" 21/32 and 48" 5/8 (20/32)
The pilot side shows 48" and 23/32. That's about 1/16" difference. Here again I do question the quality of being able to measure this accuratly.
As you see in the image, I did multiple attempts in redrawing the center point.
I'm happy with this. and will move on.![]()
