The real work started today. I spent most of the day reading in the RVator, studying the plans and looking at pictures on other websites.
By the time it was 3pm, I couldn't resist starting to work on the first steps of what once is going to be 'an airplane'.
The first step in the manual is 'breaking' the edges of the spar reinforcement bars HS-609PP. The purpose of this is to relief potential stresspoints and to make the bars fit into the HS603PP spar channels.
Most of that time was spent on the scotchbrite wheel trying to get a smooth bend on the edges.
The plan calls also for a 1/4" radius at the ends of the bars. In the picture below, the edges have been 'broken' and one of the bars has the radius made.
It's not perfect as I am still a bit rough on the grinding wheel.
Below are some pictures that show the edges.
In the top of the picture below, you can see the builders best friend... the grinding wheel with scotchbrite
I will be continuing work on these by sanding them with 400grit sandpaper.
