Preparation Leading edges - 18/5/2012 - 9h30

The problem on the fuel tank baffle is preventing me from continuing work on the closure of the fuel tanks.
So, I decided to continue working on the preparation of the leading edges of both wings. These are in a matchdrilled state and need more preparation work before I'm able to prime them.

I have to admit that the change in work is welcome. I have to say that - after a long time - I had fun again in working in the shop.

First,I had to devynil the plastic protection layer from the leading edge skins.

Then, I continued with deburring the matchdrilled holes on the skin and ribs.

There are a ton of holes to do and the procedure is always the same. Make 2 tours with the edge deburring swivel tool using very light pressure.

This could be easier with a battery operated swivel tool but I think it's less accurate to control the amount of turns you make and it is easy to remove too much material.

Then continued dimpling all ribs with the squeezer and rechecked the alignment of the flanges.

Here, all the left wing leading edge ribs are done.

And all the right ones

Finally used the pneumatic squeezer to dimple the skins where the longeron yoke could reach.

I have to admit that this is not the best thing to do, the dimples are nicer when they are don't with the C-frame and hitting with the plastic mallet. I might redo the row where the skin touches he spar.
