12/05/2020 - Moving the plane out of the garage and attach wings - 5h

It's out of the garage !

I know it has to go back in after mating and will have to be disassembled again after this but still , it's a big achievement to finally see a plane in your garden.

First we carefully brought the plane out and positioned it according the measurements I made yesterday.
I put the seat floors (bottom skin) on 4 wood pallets and also installed some pallets in the back. Used the same cradle as in the garage to support the tail.

I have put some screws in all wood to avoid sliding and shifting if heavy winds might show up. After all, it's still May and we may still have some heavy rain and winds coming over Belgium in the next weeks.
And I'm also thinking of summer storms.

Mating the wings went surprisingly well. I read about people having problems sliding the wings in, being too thight and having to manipulate the mainspar (A BIG NO NO !)

Mine went in really smooth, fit like a glove. Installed the temporary bolts.

Put something under the wing to support it if only 1 is on ! (Ask me how I know). The plane almost tipped over on one occasion while we were installing the other wing.

Here it is, in all it's glory. What a terrific sight.
