Left elevator rivetting - 14/5/2011 - 5h

Been reluctant a bit on the documentation process. The left elevator starts of pretty much the same as the right one when it comes to rivetting.

Here are some snapshots during the process.

Complex intersection temporary in place with clecoes

As you can see below, the alignment is really difficult here.

Elevator hinge rivetted in place

Back side shop head rivets for the elevator hinge

Skeleton of left elevator complete, now ready for fitting on skin in elevator jig.

First, the two inner rivets that connect the elevotor counterweight skin to the  skin. I rolled the edges slightly. You can see the nice joint on the left side.

Skin clecoed on the elevator skeleton.

All rivetted, back side remais unrivetted until after inspection from the DGLV.

Finally aligned the control hinges on the elevator trim tab.

That's it for now. More later. I have a 3 week trip to New Zealand for work end of May so the project is a bit on hold. In the meanwhile, my wing kit and fuselage kit is on the way to Antwerp, due to arrive 18 June.
