Elevator stiffeners - 6/3/2011 - 2h

As I could not continue on the rudder (waiting for my fuel tank sealant for glueing the trailing edge), I decided to cut the stiffeners for the elevators.

The process is pretty much the same as for the rudder. Just pay very well attention to the bars of aluminum angle you receive. The stiffeners are mixed up for the left and right elevator.

Cut them with snips, and then start matching and marking them before you go any further.

The stiffeners are positioned on the right elevator.

Matchdrilled the stiffeners both sides to the elevator. You need to drill some holes in the stiffeners at the trailing edge using the skin as drill guide.

I decided to first complete all stiffeners and prime the stiffeners and skins of both elevators at once. Stiffeners must be backrivetted before bending the trailing edge.
