“No bird ever flew nonstop from New York to Tokyo, or raced 15 miles high at triple the speed of sound.
Birds do something else.   They do not conquer the air; they romance it..”

Some time ago I had a flake of powder coat coming loose from the landing gear when removing some ducttape I used to temporarily attach the brake line.

I called Vans about this and they told me to scuff it clean and spray some new primer on to it. I was going to buy some of the powder coat paint but they don't sell that anymore.  They told me just to use my regular primer and spray a generous coat onto it.
So started preparing for paint and scuffed, cleaned and degreased.

During scuffing, another flake came loose.

I'm a bit worried that I am encountering some rust underneath. It might be again due to the fact it was already loose but I did send a new mail with pictures to Vans.

Cleaned it up until no more loose parts were found and had bare metal.

used the opportunity to also prime my firewall fuel doublers

And shot a generous amount of primer on the leg in 3 layers with some drying time in between.

Had a little place near the top of the leg also where hit the paint so I also added some primer there.
