Right Flap 2 Wing - 22/12/2012 - 7h30

Last big structural task on the wings was to drill the right flap to the wing.
I got some help again from buddy builder Jacques who helped to align the flap.

We followed basically the same procedure as with the left wing so I won't repeat the full explanation. Here are some images of the workflow.

Attached the rectangular alu profiles to de-mobilize the flap and aileron in neutral position.

Using pin punch to make sure the flap brace remains in position while drilling. Notice also that this time I managed to use a small C-clamp to hold the hinge in place between the aileron and flap.

The gap is real small and it takes some manoeuvering but it's worth the ease of drilling later.

Half way through. Drilling outboard to inboard.

Nice alignment when finished. .250 gap between aileron and flap as per the plans. Using two 1/4" drills during alignment makes this easy.

another alignment shot.

After removing and measuring. Plenty of edge distance left.

After deburring, dimpling skin, cutting the hinge pin and bending it. Installed the hinge pins in the secured position.

As last step, countersunk te flap brace and reinstalled the flap.

Noticed two rivets were still missing in the end outboard rib of both flaps. I am not going to take the risk of ruining it with a small bucking bar so used also a MKS319 pop rivet in this location.

Flaps are now completely done.
