F704 rivetting center section bar - 2/3/2013

In my attempt to be perfect (**grinnn **) , I was waiting for long AN426AD4 rivets as the ones specified by the plans to hold the center section vertical bars were too short.

I had to make a spruce order so I used the occasion to buy some extra long rivets.

I cut the rivets to the good length, put them on the scotchbrite wheel to make them nicely flat and without burrs.

Then, Jacques came by to shoot these rivets with the mushroom swivel head set and my tungsten bucking bar.

I've said this before, there is no real use of having these longer rivets as these two rivets are just used to keep the bar in place. Later on, you will thighten the structure with the structural wing bolts and 2 extra bolts that go through this vertical bar into the two nutplates in the wing spar.
Me wanting to use these long rivets is just 'me being anal again'

and a view on the other side. As you can see in this picture, I was using temporary bolts to align the bars while rivetting.

I thighten these bolts only very lightly and use castle nuts (just to avoid wasting a good 1032 bolt and ruin the nylon).
