01/06/26 - Color selection and paintscheme

I have been spending a couple of evenings coloring the vans template for the paintscheme.

The decision of using red, gray and white has been made a long time ago after seeing a couple of very nice RV's in these colors and my buddy Michael's sonex.

After a couple of variations, I came up with this design.
The idea was to have a nice and simple paintscheme which looks attractive and yet is not too complicated to paint. This paintscheme looks like a nice compromise to both worlds.

I used GIMP tool to edit the empty Vans jpg image and color it with my scheme.

 These are the RAL colors I selected from the sample book:

RAL3020 Verkehrsrot (traffic red)

 RAL 7037 Staubgrau for the grey accents

 RAL 9016 Verkerhsweiss (traffic white) for the white tint

 

I also ordered the same color as my engine color to paint the baffles around the engine. 
I checked with PMM wingservice which paint they use and it's RAL1035  Perlbeige.
