Continuing the fitting process of the F-7114 fuselage gussets.
Fortunatly, the passenger side gusset fitted much better.
Here I inserted to shorted an3 bolts in the small holes and inserted the longer bolt.
I also supported the forward side with some stock material in order to keep the side flange aligned with the F-7101 gear attach bottom side.
Measured couple of times and convinced myself that edge distance would be fine everywhere for the 5 AN3 bolts.
First drilled #40 holes for all 5 positions and enlarged those to #30.
I bought these cool drill bits from PAN AM which have double drill sizes in one drill bit.
This one goes from #30 in the drip to #19. So the drill gets centered in my predrilled #30 hole and perfectly up-sizes to #19.
Really happy I bought these and a good test for when I have to drill the more critical holes like the rear spar of the wind or the elevator horns.
I also have a reamer with double size which I used to upsize from #19 to almost #12 (it's some thousands off). The real #12 reamer defines the final size.
Here is the final size holes. Perfectly round and snug.
Since the gusset is in place. I can now position the forward cover and using some angle stock, define the position for the angle that should be positioned underneath.
You see my line in the picture where the angle should be.
Now I can remove the cover and drill the angle in place.
All done. I notched the angle.
