I prepared the right wingtip in the previous session and now it's time for the real business.
To make absolutly sure of the alignment. I reinstalled the aileron neutral tool on the outer wing rib and installed the aileron bellcranck jig.
Verified and confirmed the aileron was in the full neutral position.
check !
Then I positioned the wing tip for a good fit all around the outer rib and moved it in position so that the trailing edges of wing tip and aileron would perfectly align. Then I clamped them with the use of some scrap sheet of aluminum on top and bottom. I also made a minimal edge distance line on the lip of the wingtip so I could evaluate while looking through the holes of the wing skin.
I'm also paying special attention to the fit of the nose in the leading edge of the wing.
Drilled the holes #40 starting at the leading edge and alternating 2 top, 2 bottom and so on. Cleco as you go.
Here the whole row is done. I used an old bank card to verify the gap between the skin and the bevel in the wing tip.
All clecoed and no more clamps. As you can see in the next picture, the trailing edges align perfectly. I'm a happy camper !
On 20/06 I did the same on the left wing tip. That took only 2 hours.
