I needed to complete one more task before playing into the solenoids. My session of installing the rudder fairings yesterday ended in finding out that one of the holes was too close to one of the J stringers to be able to get the pop dimpler in.
No other option than to modify those nice dies and grind away some of the steel. After that, it just fitted and I was able to dimple the hole.phheeeww...
Next I installed the solenoids. I had done this before so it was just a matter of putting the bolts into place.
Then I cut the copper bar and drilled two big holes in it to fit over the posts of the solenoids. It's a double bar. The first is quite easy. The second is a bit more tricky as it has to fit exactly over the second.
View from the front. They are mounted nice and straight but the camera lens more or less distorts the image.
Next I got into the battery work.The box was already installed but I had not made the cover bar yet.
It's a fat bar of aluminum that needs to be trimmed, lightning holes cut and rounded corners. I used the rotary cutter for these holes.
As per the plans.
Match drilled with the holes on the angles on the sides of the battery box.
Finally made the spacers. I made these a little oversize so that I can adjust the height once the real battery is installed.
